Tip: If you’re heading to Hong Kong, make sure you purchase an Octopus Card on arrival. They are the perfect little gadget to help you get around the city quickly and practically cashless.
Pay a $50 deposit, load it with a little bit of cash and then off you go. The card is accepted for all public transport, at most convenience stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, newsagents, fast food outlets and at some restaurants.
Before leaving Hong Kong, make sure you spend the remainder of credit left over on your Octopus card. To really make the most of it, you can purchase something for more than the leftover credit amount and it will just take it out of your original $50 deposit. You can only do this once though so make it worth it!
