Whether your doing a quick trip around Wales or spending a length of time there, you must visit Usk, near Abergavenny to see the spectacular ruins of Usk Castle. We went by recommendation and absolutely loved it.Â
It doesn’t take long to wander around the castle, perhaps plan about one hour to see everything. The cost is £2 per person and you can leave a donation for the upkeep of the castle and it’s surroundings. By the looks of it, they’re are using the donations well.
Usk Castle is very easy to find, just off the main road running through the small town of Usk. We rode our bicycles in and were given permission to put them up closer to the castle where there was more security. Otherwise, no need to find street parking, there is a free car park on site. Nearby, the town of Usk is home to a number of small pubs and cafés to have a bite to eat afterwards.
