Chapéu Mangueira is a favela community in Rio de Janeiro, above Leme and Copacabana beaches. The premium location and the UPP (Pacifying Police Unit – Portuguese: Unidade de Polícia Pacificadora) make it a popular destination among gringos (tourists) that want to experience a different vibe in the so called “Marvellous City” (Cidade Maravilhosa, a song recorded in 1935 that has became the anthem of the city).
In this video Hannah walks you though the streets of the favela, from Chapeu do Leme Guesthouse to the beach.
